Carrey's art, that he routinely shares on Twitter, is sometimes politically charged and awash in social messages and religious themes. The Hollywood Reporter posted several of the comedian's most controversial pieces in 2018, including his painting titled, Jesus. "I do a lot of Christ," he said of the 2016 piece. "But I don't really think of it in terms of Christianity terms. I wanted to capture Christ's consciousness coming kind of through the ether. And you would be able to find every race in his face." Donald Trump is a frequent inspiration for Carrey's work, and other targets have included Bill Cosby, Jeffrey Epstein, and divisive political topics like immigration and mass shootings.
In addition to acting, Carrey is a painter and sculptor who has exhibited work at galleries in the U.S. and Canada. As well as a recent NFT collection and searing political cartoons, which he regularly posted to Twitter during the Donald Trump administration, the actor is known for creating colourful paintings on canvas.
There are various other original Carreys on display, including paintings that appeared in "I Needed Color," a short documentary released in 2017 that saw the Hollywood star describe his artistic process.
"When I really started painting a lot, I had become so obsessed that there was nowhere to move in my home," he said in the six-minute film. "Paintings were everywhere. They were becoming part of the furniture; I was eating on them."
The NFT, titled Sunflower, is based off his painting of the same name and will be accompanied by an original voice-over, which was produced with filmmaker David Bushell. The auction, which began today, started at $1. Proceeds will go toward Feeding America, a nonprofit network of food banks.
We all know that Jim Carrey is such a great actor, comedian in movies and on stage, but his ubiquitous presence is also in fine art paintings. He displays through his paintings that he is not just an actor but also deep thinker and translate his political view through brush.
Looks like The Weeknd isn't so heartless after all. The singer recently celebrated a milestone birthday and was gifted an awesome portrait, created by a fellow Canadian celebrity. As it turns out, Jim Carrey's painting skills are better than you may have thought.

A new mini documentary, I Needed Color, showcases the actor painting in his studio in New York City as he narrates his thought process about his work. LOS ANGELES -- Jim Carrey has spent the last several years painting, and the actor-turned-artist seems to be getting political in his latest work. Carrey is being criticized on social media for a portrait he painted that is believed to be White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
Others voiced appreciation for the painting and questioned why some individuals were more offended by satirical artwork than actual mistruths being uttered by a federal employee who the American people are supposed to be able to trust.
Carrey himself seized upon the controversy to promote another one of his paintings satirizing the Trump administration titled, "The Wicked Witch of the West Wing and Putin's Flying Monkeys." Previous artwork by the Carrey has taken swipes at Trump himself, as well as his former chief strategist Steve Bannon, former Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and numerous other Republicans in Congress.
Carrey's painting of Pruitt joins a series of other right wing caricatures that the comedian has been hard at work on, including images of Sean Hannity, Sarah Huckabee Sanders and President Trump himself.
The five animated paintings in the Germinations collection are 30 seconds to a minute in length and feature audio from Carrey himself as he inhabits the role of each unique character. Some are somber, others are erratic, but each is arresting. To create the NFTs, Carrey recorded short videos of himself in character, froze the videos, and constructed paintings from those video stills. He then provided the visuals and the audio to the Big Head Club team, which then animated the paintings. 041b061a72
